Representation in Warsaw

The purpose of the SR representation in Warsaw is to promote and facilitate the contacts between the stakeholders and the associated members and the Polish counterparts. The Stockholm Region representation in Warsaw will facilitate the development of long-term mutually beneficial contacts between various actors in the Stockholm region and Poland.

We will organise seminars, conferences and workshops, and offer possibilities to visit Warsaw and other parts of Poland.

Madeleine Sjöstrand is the Managing Director of Stockholm Region. Madeleine was appointed by the board of Stockholm Region on 3 December 2009 to lead the organisation until May 2010. She replaces Thomas Friis Konst, the former Managing Director, until the new Managing Director will be appointed.

    Since 2008 Madeleine is running her own Consultant Agency "Utvecklingsstrategerna AB". Besides that she has long experience from working in the public sector, her latest positions being Municipal director in Haninge municipality, and before that Municipal director in Trosa. Both municipalities are located in the Stockholm Region.

Karl Svensson works at the Stockholm Region Representation in Warsaw as Area Manager.  Karl is based in Warsaw and is working with contacts and co-operation with Poland and other Central and Eastern European partners.

Karl completed a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Kent at Canterbury and a MA in European Law and Society at the University of Sussex.  Previous professional experience includes working in telecommunications and at Diplomatic Missions.  He is interested in European Affairs and was a stagiaire at the European Commission in DG Enterprise and Industry.  Karl speaks fluent English, Swedish and Polish and also intermediate French.
