The history of Swedish industry began in Västmanland, which together with Värmland, Närke and southern Dalecarlia constituted historical area Bergslagen. The early industry was based on iron ore, forests and watercourses providing power and transport possibilities. Part of these areas are eligible for the Objective 2 funding.
