Seminars and events

Collecting, processing and disseminating relevant information stands in the forefront to all work that the Stockholm Region Representation performs in Brussels. We gather information through monitoring the different thematic areas within the EU and disseminate it through, among other events, conferences and seminars for our stakeholders and partners.
Our office in Stockholm, furthermore, frequently organizes meetings for the local and regional EU-coordinators. Here below you can find information about theses occasions.

The Stockholm Region Days in St. Petersburg

On 27-29 October 2009 the Stockholm Region Days took place in St. Petersburg. The event was organised by the County Administrative Board of Stockholm within the frames of the cooperation agreement between Stockholm-Mälar Region and the City of St. Petersburg signed on 2 February 2006.During the Stockholm Region Days the county governor Per Unckel met the Vice-governor of St. Petersburg Mikhail Oseevsky to discuss the prospects of further regional cooperation. During the event a number of brunch seminars were arranged in particular on public and private healthcare, innovations and research as well as energy efficiency measures in residential buildings. A business breakfast with the participation of over 40 senior managers of Swedish companies in St Petersburg was held at the Kempinski hotel with the support of the Consulate General of Sweden in St. Petersburg. The aim of the event was to provide the participants with a possibility to meet, develop a contact network and to discuss mutual challenges as well as opportunities for Swedish business in Russia.The Stockholm Region Days were arranged with the support of the Stockholm Region office in St. Petersburg

Solna European Education project 2010 – End conference
2009-11-05

 

Stockholm Region is coordinating a project regarding school policies and good practices on education for the City of Solna in Stockholm. The overall aim is school quality development with special focus put on:

 

- Good practices on improving the literacy of the pupils in primary school.

- How to make more pupils continue to upper-secondary education (in Sweden called gymnasium).

- Good practices on improving the grade average of pupils in secondary education (for transition to
  upper-secondary education).

 

The municipality chose the strategy to look outside of Sweden for good practices in Europe concerning education. Within the frames of the project headmasters from Solna primary, secondary and upper-secondary schools, as well as the education department of Solna visits well performing schools and/or schools in a transfer process in a few cities in Europe as well as other actors working with education for more general education strategies.

 

On 25 November, in connection with the Swedish EU-Presidency, its time to disseminate the project results in a large international seminar, with high level speakers. More information will come soon.

Day of Sweden in St. Petersburg
2009-06-27

On 27 June 2009 the Day of Sweden will be held in St. Petersburg on Malaya Konyushennaya pedestrian street where the Consulate General of Sweden is situated. The event is organized by the Consulate General of Sweden, Swedish Trade Council in cooperation with ArtEast and Swedish companies. The event has been already held two times before and attracted a large audience. This year the celebration of the Swedish National Day will coincide with the finish of the Volvo Ocean Race in St. Petersburg and the fact that Sweden some days after takes over the Presidency of the EU.

 

During the Day of Sweden 2009 about twenty Swedish companies and organizations will present their activities in St. Petersburg at the fancy fair. Stockholm-Mälar region will be represented by the Stockholm County Administrative Board and Stockholm Visitors Board.

As a way to thank various collegues and partner organisations for good cooperation during the year, Stockholm Region is inviting to the yearly Stockholm Region lunch on 11 December.

The Stockholm Region Nobel Lunch can only be attended with a personal invitation.

VINNOVA-seminar: ”The Impact of the EU Framework Programme in Sweden”

VINNOVA (Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems) invites you to a seminar: "The Impact of the EU Framework Programme in Sweden".

 

Wednesday 10th of December 2008, 14.30 - 17.30, at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union, Square de Meeûs 30, Brussels

 

A new report, "The Impact of the EU Framework Programme in Sweden", conducted by Technopolis Ltd, studies the impacts of the EU Framework Programmes on Sweden in the period 1990 to date. The report covers four clusters of technology: Sustainable energy, Life sciences and health, ICT and Vehicle. It also covers five universities.

 

After a presentation of the report, representatives from the commission will comment on the report and their work on impact studies. The seminar ends with a panel discussion.

INFO-days 2008

On October 21 and 22, Stockholm Region is organisting the event 'Information Days 2008' in Brussels for its stakeholders.

During the two day conference, match making activities will be organised, where the reresentatives from Stockholm will meet other regional represenatives involved in project development.

Stockholm Region Nobel Lunch 2007

As a way to thank various collegues and partner organisations for good cooperation during the year, Stockholm Region is inviting to the yearly Stockholm Region lunch on 14 December. This year's lunch is already the 7th edition and the theme for this year's seminar will be "Innovative ways of working - with Swedish - Chinese elements".

Interregional cooperation between the European Union and Russia – Functioning tools for Russian and Swedish regions
2007-09-20

 

On 19-20 September the seminars on EU - Russia Interregional Cooperation. Functioning Cooperation Tools for Swedish and Russian Regions jointly organised with the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Stockholm Region, took place in Brussels.

 

Over 150 people participated in the event including the representatives of the European Commission, members of the Commission for External Relations and Decentralised cooperation (RELEX) of CoR, Mission of the Russian Federation to the European Union, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Plenipotentiary envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Northwest Federal district, the Stockholm Region, Sörmland Regional Council, the County Administrative Board of Västmanland, the County Administrative Board of Stockholm, the County Council of Örebro and the County Council of Stockholm as well as Russian regions of Leningrad, Vologda, Novgorod, Moscow Region Duma and the City of St. Petersburg.

 

The purpose of the activities was to discuss the cooperation prospects with the focus on future prerequisites for developing local and regional interaction between EU and Russia and functioning working tools for cooperation. The event was carried out in connection to RELEX regular meeting.

 

The event provided an opportunity to present and to discuss different working tools at regional and local levels for EU institutions and European regions, as well as to disseminate the experience and knowledge accumulated during the long-lasting Swedish-Russian cooperation.

Visits from Mayor and vice Mayors to Brussels

During the autumn 2007,  the Mayor of Stockhollm Ms. Kristina Axén Olin and the vice Mayors will be visiting Brussels. The ojective with these high level visits are to present Stockholm to the Brussels arena and to increase the cooperation with partners in European regions and institutions. The launch of "Growth Cities Initiative"

On 10 May 2007, Solna City and Stockholm Region invites representatives from other European Regions and Cities to a seminar and lunch in the Committee of the Regions. During the seminar the new initiative "Growth Cities" will be launched. This initiative will be a part of Lisbon Regions Network and aims to facilitate the cooperation between cities in their work to promote growth, jobs and sustainable develoopment.
