The mission of the Stockholm Region is to coordinate and promote its members' joint interests, those of the Stockholm-Mälar Region, in matters concerning the region's relations to the EU.
The activities of the association are carried out through the wholly-owned affiliated corporation Stockholm Region EU Office. The aim of the corporation is to, within the framework of the members' competences, monitor prioritised issues and build contacts and networks with the EU institutions as well as other Brussels-based actors. The main activities take place at the office in Brussels.
The office in Stockholm functions as a platform for dialogue and contact for the three main stakeholders - the City of Stockholm, the Stockholm County Council and the Stockholm County Association of Local Authorities (KSL) - as well as the other five members; Uppsala Regional Council, Västmanland Association of Local Authorities and County Council (VKL), Sörmland Regional Council, Region Gotland, and the Council for the Mälar Region.
