Managing Director

Per Spolander works for the Stockholm Region EU Office as Managing Director. He holds a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Assistance from Uppsala University and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Political Economy from the University of Gothenburg. He has a strong professional background in International Affairs having worked for the City of Stockholm Executive Office with EU-policies for almost a decade.  He has also worked for the United Nations as Emergency Officer in Kosovo, North Korea in Southern Africa. Per speaks Swedish, English and Spanish and some Italian and French.

Joanna Szyfter works for the Stockholm Region EU office as European Policy officer. She monitors EU affairs with special focus on research and development, innovation and education. She also works with thematic events and information activities. Joanna has been studying Political Science at Master level at Stockholm university and holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Södertörn University College in Sweden. Joanna speaks fluently Swedish, Polish, English and some Spanish.

Madelen Charysczak works in the the Brussels office since October 2006. She works mainly with policy monitoring and thematic events. Madelen holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Padova in Italy. She has aslo studied Sustainable Development at the University of Stockholm. Apart from Swedish and English, Madelen speaks fluently Italian and some Spanish and German.

Gustaf works for the Stockholm Region EU Office in Brussels as European Policy Officer. He is responsible for the office's policy work and monitors EU affairs with a special focus on public health, employment and social affairs.

Gustaf has a Master's degree in political science with a specialisation in European Politics from Stockholm University. He has also studied Italian, French, International Relations and Economic History. Apart from Swedish and English, Gustaf speaks Italian, some French and some German.

Katarina works for the Stockholm Region EU Office in Brussels as project assistant, assisting with the IVC-project PEOPLE. Katarina has a bachelor in Political Science from Linköping University, since autumn 2010 she is a student at Uppsala University were she studies a Master in Political Science. Katarina has previously worked as an intern at Mälardalsrådet and at the Embassy of Sweden in Athens. Katarina speaks Swedish, English and also some French.

Johanna works for the Stockholm Region EU Office in Brussels as project assistant, assisting with the two Interreg IVC-projects POWER and PEOPLE. Johanna has a Master's degree in Political Science from Linköping University. Further, she has studied international relations in Mexico and done an internship at the Embassy of Sweden in Mexico City. Johanna speaks Swedish, English and Spanish.

Nils works as a trainee at the office in Brussels with various policy projects. Nils holds a master's degree in political science specialising in European affairs from the Stockholm University. Apart from political science Nils has also studied international relations and sociology at the New York University (NYU) in the U.S. and held a previous internship with the Swedish foreign ministry at the Swedish Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Filip works as a trainee at the Stockholm Region EU Office, managing tasks as policy assessment, conducting reports and monitoring conferences and seminars at the different EU institutions. Filip holds a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Gothenburg, and is currently on course to complete his Master's Degree in the same discipline at the same university. Additionally, he also studied Public Affairs at the University of Washington, Seattle in the U.S., and specializes himself in public policy instruments, policy analysis as well as topics regarding renewable energy and sustainable development. Filip speaks Swedish, English and some French.
